ABOUT

Thread Original was built by two women who spent years inside fashion, beauty, production, nightlife, branding, and creative culture — and got tired of products that looked good online but failed in real life.

Amy came up through the commercial creative world, styling and art directing shoots from L.A. to New York before bringing that energy back to Chicago. Years of backstage chaos, impossible call times, dark sets, travel days, and building visual moments shaped the DNA of Thread.

Kim spent 17 years helping build Urban Decay Cosmetics into one of the most iconic beauty brands of its generation. She lived inside the world of product launches, retail culture, beauty campaigns, and brand building long before “branding” became everyone’s personality.

Together, we built the thing we wished already existed.

Not just a bag.
A better one.

Fashion-forward.
Functional.
Built for movement.
Built for dark spaces.
Built for real life.

Because not everywhere is lit.

Not backstage.
Not the athlete bus.
Not the DJ booth.
Not the airport at 5AM.

So we made the bag glow instead.

What started as a product turned into something bigger — a brand moving through nightlife, beauty, travel, sports, music, and culture alongside the people actually shaping it.

Today, Thread Original travels with DJs, athletes, creatives, performers, and the USA Women’s Olympic Hockey Team.

And somewhere along the way, Thread became bigger than bags.

That’s why we created “Thread Has Your Back” — a campaign centered around safety, support, mental health awareness, and reminding people that self-respect matters more than fitting in.

Because feeling safe in your environment matters.
Protecting your peace matters.
Knowing when to leave a situation matters.
Checking on your friends matters.

The world can feel loud, performative, isolating, and overwhelming sometimes — especially in nightlife, beauty, travel, and social culture where everyone looks fine even when they’re not.

We wanted to build something that acknowledged real life, not just the highlight reel.

Woman-owned.
Built from instinct, experience, taste, and the refusal to build something basic.
